If the collar fits loosely, can't my dog just slip out of it and be saved?
No!  A loose collar is far more likely to get snagged and twisted, creating a life-threatening situation. There is little opportunity for a dog to slip out of a collar once it has become caught and twisted. If your dog loses his conventional collar, that should be a red flag that he may not be so lucky the next time.

How do I fit this collar on my dog?
For everyday use, the breakaway safety dog collar has a quick-snap fastener to take the collar on and off. As with any collar, you should adjust it so that one or two fingers can fit between the dog's neck and the collar.

What if my dog loses his Keepsafe Collar including  his ID?
This can happen with any collar. The Keepsafe^R Break-Away Collar is designed to be a part of a dog's collar "wardrobe" with different collars suiting different needs. For example, I use the Keepsafe collar as his everyday safety collar, the Gentle Leader Headcollar  for walking (to prevent him from pulling on the leash) and other collars and leads for obedience training or "nights on the town."  We recommend you have additional ID tags to keep on his other collars.

Can I safely walk my dog with this collar?
Absolutely! All you need to do is to attach the leash to the two D-rings. This will disengage the breakaway feature. See illustration below.

To find the proper size, measure the girth of the dog's chest just behind the front legs at its deepest point. Dog must be standing square to get correct measurement.
